Founded in 2018, Leo Stoll and Elias Hauth have quickly made a name for themselves in Wiesbaden and beyond the city limits under the name “Das CelloDuo”, delighting audiences with their varied programs, great joy of playing and different concert formats. The two teenagers began playing rock and pop pieces on the cello alongside the classical repertoire a few years ago as students at the Wiesbaden Music and Art School. What began with small private performances soon led the young cellists to larger stages such as the Wiesbaden Kurhaus or the Wiesbaden Marktkirche. Inspired by their role models Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser – better known as the celebrated 2Cellos – the CelloDuo’s repertoire ranges from virtuoso rock covers and gentle pop ballads by the 2Cellos to classical music and original arrangements. The two enjoy experimenting with a wide variety of groupings, from bands to classical orchestras. In 2019, the CelloDuo was awarded second place in the Wiesbaden Foundation’s Leonardo Awards.
